Including the preferences section that has allowed me to disable verifying the checksum of every DMG file I open. It's a pet peeve of mine to have to wait for that to complete before it opens a DMG file for an.

I have the same problem with a recently downloaded LibreOffice5.1.0MacOSx86-64.dmg on a Mac OS X 10.0.5 machine. Verification is almost complete and then it hangs. • Fixing a Macintosh.pkg that gets stuck in the 'verifying' stage. The High Sierra issue appears to be a known bug that Apple is aware of. There are a couple of options that may resolve this prior to Apple releasing 10.13.1: 1) Try restarting your mac, and trying to open the.DMG again. 2) Hold down the Control key when you click on the.dmg.

There seems to be a problem with OSX 10.11.x when verifying/opening files and not just the VirtualBox.pkg. The problem is not seen by all users, but it is affecting a lot of them. There is no known permanent solution or explanation to the problem so far. There are a couple of workarounds though that you can try (listed in the order that you should try them)

Again, this is a problem with OSX, not VirtualBox. A quick search for 'mac stuck at verifying' will convince you.

I've downloaded VirtualBox-5.0.16-105871-OSX.dmg and verified that the sha-256 checksum is correct.
The dmg mounts on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) running OS X 10.11.4
When I try to run the installer, VirtualBox.pkg, either directly from the mounted dmg, or by copying it to the internal drive, it hangs at Verifying 'VirtualBox.pkg'.. for at least well over an hour. The progress bar does not advance.

I have 'admin' privileges on the machine. I have been able to install other packages without issue.
There is nothing that I see in Console that indicates the cause of the issue.
