Ive seen the base damage getting changed alot lately. And now its on 409 dmg. How is it possible to get 409? I can only manage 400 dmg. Shroomite Set, Menacing Destroyer Emblem, Menacing Avenger Emblem, Menacing Ranger Emblem, Menacing Sun/Moon Stone and Menacing Mechanical Glove. Actually, mechanical gloves do not increase damage of ranged or magic weapons, except on mobile. The menacing modifier will increase the damage of all types of weapons though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.125.144.9 (talk) at 19:00, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
The Highest possible base damage I have created so far for the sniper rifle. This is expert mode only, hence the sixth accessory.
There is a 208% bonus from armor and accesories, 75% from buffs, and other factors that can increase damage.

A more practical sniper set up would be:
Unreal sniper rifle (higher dps than ruthless), vortex armor, menacing putrid scent, menacing sniper scope, menacing destroyer emblem, menacing bee cloak (if you need extra protection up close, if you don’t, use a menacing avenger emblem instead), menacing ranger emblem, psycho knife for melee combat, also it decreases enemy aggression (as well as vortex armor, and putrid scent) daybreak (works well with all classes), vampire knives (for healing), luminite bullets, Crystal bullets, ichor bullets, Chlorophyte bullets, and an endless musket pouch. This setup still provides high damage from the sniper rifle, as well as being much more useful up close, and if you have a decent pet like a Pygmy staff, and it is good for afk farming (hold psycho knife, and use sneak ability. The enemy aggression will be so low that the Pygmy will kill most enemies before they realize you are there. As of 1.3.1, my rifle's damage can go up to 480, crit-chance is 81% & highest crit-damage seen by me is 1622 while using Endless Musket Pouch (green slime: https://postimg.org/image/rjpi45n1j/, you can add this image to the page if you wish), with Unreal Sniper Rifle, Shroomite armor with Mask, non-reforged Sniper Scope and Celestial Shell with +3% damage (I also used the armor's still-standing buff). I think that with top equipment like in the first comment more then 2000 dmg could be dealt in one shot (+10% Destroyer, +12% Avenger, +15% Ranger, +17% from 5 Menacing accessories). 109.252.45.55 14:26, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

I see some videos where sniper rifle (ruthless) is Snail speed, but I have nothing that increases speed of ranger items and my (ruthless) Sniper rifle is Extremely Slow Speed. On this wiki it seems the speed info was changed on 20 March 2014‎. The most recent patch at that time was 1.2.3.1, though there doesn't appear to be any patch notes concerning the Sniper Rifle in it. The change might have occurred in an earlier patch, and/or it might have been an undocumented change. In what Terraria version were the videos you saw made in? Please refer to this comment. Legendary is a melee-only modifier and your friend is using an illegitimately altered rifle. Even if this were a point for debate, Legendary would be objectively inferior, because while the 209.85% increase in value and percentage increases in total stats (15/15/10/10/5) are shared among the three highest 'best' modifiers, Legendary's increase to size has no effect on non-melee weapons, making it a wasted stat.

  1. Assuming it is a standard read-write image all you have to do is:
    open up Disk Utility (you can find it via Spotlight)
    drag & drop your DMG file into the white area on the left hand side, where your Macintosh HD is also shown
    select the DMG file and at the top click the 'Resize Image' button (or via the Menu Images > Resize)

    A Disk Image will always take up as much space as you sized it. If you make it 2GB it will take up 2 GB of space on your hard drive or flash drive. A sparse images will grow according to it's contents with the selected size being the limit.

    • It does work. I have tested that under 10.6.8, 10.7.5 as well as 10.10 Yosemite.
      Disk Utility will prompt you for the encryption password. When entered correctly it will unlock the DMG file and you are able to resize it.

      My guess would be that the image you tried resize was not a read-write image but a read-only or compressed Disk Image. Both are literally 'read only' and need to be converted before you can do any modification to them, regardless of any password protection.
